CSUN’s Human Lactation Program is pleased to invite you to an upcoming in-person Amy Avelar Careers in Lactation Speaker Series event. This series is designed to provide students with real-world insight into professional lactation roles and includes time for discussion and questions.

This event will also recognize and celebrate the generous gift from Harriet and Harvey Bookstein to CSUN’s Human Lactation Program. Their contribution supports the preparation of future lactation professionals and strengthens partnerships between the university and the broader community.

Topic: Working as a Lactation Professional in a Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program

Featured Speaker: Byanka Melgar, MPH, CHES, IBCLC 

Byanka has more than 15 years of experience as a lactation educator and became an IBCLC in 2013. She currently works as a Breastfeeding Peer Counselor Coordinator–IBCLC in a WIC program and serves as faculty at Los Angeles Valley College and Los Angeles Pierce College. She is also a CSUN alumna.
